Description
With the VCE English exam only a few weeks away, this seminar is designed to help you work out exactly what to focus on between now and exam day.
In one focused hour, we’ll break down the exam, look at what strong responses actually do, work through common mistakes, and build a practical approach to each section.
The aim is to give you a clearer understanding of the exam and a realistic plan for improving your writing over the final few weeks.
The session is taught live by Ish, a qualified Victorian English teacher who has worked with VCE students for over seven years.
You’ll leave with:
a clear strategy for approaching each section of the exam
practical ways to improve the quality of your analysis
advice on planning, timing and writing under exam conditions
an understanding of common mistakes that cost students marks
a final-weeks revision plan you can actually follow
You’ll also receive a digital seminar workbook and access to the recording after the session.
What we'll cover
Section A: Reading and Responding
How to break down prompts, build a strong interpretation and move beyond generic text knowledge into genuinely analytical writing.
Section B: Creating Texts
How to make purposeful choices, respond closely to the framework and stimulus material, and avoid writing pieces that feel disconnected from the task.
Section C: Analysing Argument
How to identify the argument that actually matters, analyse language precisely and write about the relationship between language, argument and audience rather than simply listing persuasive techniques.
We’ll also cover exam timing, planning and how to use the final weeks effectively.

About Ish
Hi, I’m Ish. I’m a qualified Victorian English teacher and the founder of English with Ish.
I’ve worked with VCE English students for more than seven years, from students aiming to pass confidently through to students who have achieved study scores in the high 40s and 50.
My approach to exam preparation is pretty straightforward: understand what the task is actually asking, know what strong writing looks like, practise deliberately and use feedback to improve the next response.
That’s what this seminar is built around.
