Family Mystic, Micaela Kingslight @ FREMONT ABBEY
Description
Family Mystic: www.familymystic.com
Family Mystic is a rising force in the west coast music scene led by rich four-part vocal harmonies & ecstatic grooves. Their passion for music weaves classic funk/soul, 70’s psychedelic rock, modern americana, disco, & jazz fusion into a tapestry of sound that provides an undeniably good time on the dance floor. Through storytelling, nostalgic yet innovative songcrafting, and curation of impactful gatherings, they’ve established themselves as a standout live experience on the west coast festival & venue circuit, bridging an array of communities together while they’re at it.
Over the years they’ve supported national touring acts such as Jason Hann (String Cheese Incident), Dogs in A Pile, Pink Talking Fish, Diggin Dirt, March Fourth Marching Band, Kendall Street Company & Banshee Tree to name a few. They’ve shared festival stages with Melvin Seals & JGB, Moonalice, California Honeydrops, Porangui, MaMuse, & many more greats. Family Mystic’s luminous songwriting, lush vocal harmonies, tight rhythm section, & sensational musicianship, is a must see live performance.
Their sound is fueled by the soul-stirring guitar playing of Marcelo Guitron, groove-laden keys & ethereal falsetto of Ian Love, and virtuosic musicality of Matthew Serino (bass), Tommy Serino (drums) and Todd Wason (aux drums). A band of dedicated songwriters expressing life through “feel-good” music that is both accessible & explorative. Flavors reminiscent of Jerry Garcia, Herbie Hancock, CSNY, & Michael Jackson inspire this gumbo of sound & influence that touches on a wide spectrum of the human experience.
Founded in 2019, touring the west coast since 2020 with the intention of using their musical platform to bring people together & cultivating a sense of belonging through community. What began as gathering large crowds at their infamous pop-up park shows has evolved into them making poised appearances at some of the most well known & loved festival & venue stages on the west coast like Oregon Country Fair, Cascade Equinox, Re/evolution Summerjam, Imagine Music & Arts Festival, and Conscious Growth Convergence. They are currently working on their 3rd studio album and preparing to expand touring routes to bring their music to as many people as possible.
“All the love you found in your whole life… It’s growing, it’s growing.”
Micaela Kingslight: www.micaelakingslight.com
"Micaela Kingslight is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, lifelong music-educator and intuitive somatic bodyworker. Micaela began playing violin and piano at age 3, recorded her first track at age 5, and began teaching music at 15. A truly protean talent, Micaela is equally comfortable with the funky and folksy as well as ultra-hard rock and blues! As lead electric guitarist and songwriter in her group Flypaper, Micaela opened up for internationally touring bands like Primus, The Dresden Dolls, and B.B King, while as a studio musician in Detroit she cut her guitar and vocal chops playing funk and R&B alongside members of Motown staples like the Temptations, The Drifters, and The Supremes.
Most recently, Micaela has gained acclaim singing intricate three-part harmonies with the folk/medicine supergroup Three Wheels Turning alongside her collaborators Samara Jade and Aimee Ringle. Her own music combines all of these diverse influences into an eclectic global synthesis incorporating classical guitar, mandolin, harp, and South American Medicine music." - Artist Bio
