What You Will Learn
The Youth Mental Health First Aid course teaches adults how to provide initial support to young people aged 12-18 who may be:
Experiencing a mental health problem
Developing an emerging concern
Facing a mental health crisis
You’ll learn:
✔ Signs and symptoms of common adolescent mental health problems
✔ How to recognise worsening or emerging mental health concerns
✔ Evidence‑based strategies to support a young person
✔ How to guide them toward professional help and additional supports
✔ How to use a practical, proven action plan to confidently approach a young person in need
Course Outcomes
Participants become Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders) - equipped with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to provide timely mental health support when it matters most.
This course is recognised by Suicide Prevention Australia as a safe, high‑quality, and effective suicide prevention program.

Course Format
Component 1 - Self‑paced eLearning: 5-7 hours (must be completed prior to component 2)
Component 2 - Live online sessions: Three × 2.5‑hour video‑conferencing sessions
Session 1: 18th November 2026, 9am - 11:30am
(1 hour break)
Session 2: 18th November 2026, 12:30pm - 3pm
Session 3: 19th November, 9am - 11:30am
💲 Cost: $340+GST per person
Accreditation
You can complete the short assessment at the end of a course to become an Accredited Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider).
Accreditations are valid for 3 years.
