Plein Air Oil Painting: a workshop with Mark Dober
Event description
Join Mark Dober for this three-part workshop on Sundays 10, 17 & 24 November from 10am-2pm. Each session will be in a different landscape location close to Newstead.
Mark will demonstrate in oils on canvas. He will demonstrate in steps how to proceed with each painting – giving consideration to composition, building the painting in stages, hand/eye coordination, an awareness of positive and negative shapes, using colour structurally and expressively, and strategies to deal with the changing light.
Students will complete a painting each session. You will be provided with a materials list after booking. An easel will be required and you may wish to bring a folding stool or chair.
The workshop will end with a show and tell and wrap up of everyone’s work. Suitable for all levels of experience.
Renowned local artist, Mark Dober’s art practise is grounded in plein-air painting. His media are oils on canvas and watercolour/gouache on paper. Mark regularly exhibits in the commercial gallery system and at regional galleries around Australia. He has a PhD in Painting from Monash University.
