This modest family home was also the backdrop to Gough Whitlam's ascendancy to Prime Minister. As Member for Werriwa (1952–1978), Gough Whitlam welcomed constituents into the living and dining rooms to hear their concerns, conversations often glimpsed through the kitchen window as they walked up the driveway. The house bore witness to campaign highs, challenging losses, and pivotal moments in Australian history.
Now lovingly preserved by the Whitlam Institute and Western Sydney University, this home offers a rare and intimate insight into the personal and political life of one of our nation’s most transformative leaders.
