Event description

3553 is hosting our first fundraiser - a silent auction featuring an array of artworks generously donated by local artists.

Opening Event:
Date: Friday 1st August 2025
Time: 6pm - 9pm
Location: 35-53 Emma St, Collingwood

Contributors:
Patricia Frank Narrurlu, Serena Morton Napanangka, Ben Hosking, OFFICE, Safa El Samad, Rory Gardiner, Mitte Studio, Ruby Yao, Yaseera Moosa, Matt Dunne, Simulaa, Guled Elyas, Bridget Keane, architect brew koch, Collective Territories, Winsor Kerr, Mark Romei, Threshold Projects, Nicholas Hubicki, & more…

Since opening our space 6 months ago, 3553's public program has featured the work of over 100 contributors and welcomed more than 1,500 attendees. To date, all of this has been achieved without any external funding.

In order to keep 3553 open, accessible, and active into the next year, we are hosting a silent auction, featuring a range of donated works from local creatives. All money raised will support the continuation of our work by funding minor capital improvements and enabling the commissioning and production of new works — all while ensuring that 3553 remains free and accessible to all. The auction will be online for a week, although the work will only be available for viewing at the event on Friday 1st August.

3553 is a public event space dedicated to ideas that shape the built environment. Operated by OFFICE, a not-for-profit design and research studio, we provide a free public program of exhibitions, talks, and workshops. Our program brings together practitioners, researchers, students, and community members across borders and disciplines to critically engage with the social, spatial, and political conditions of design.

As critical discourse is sidelined by market priorities, institutional caution, and political pressure, it is essential to maintain spaces where design can be discussed on public terms. It is also essential to ensure that these spaces remain accessible — which is why 3555 does not charge a fee for participants to use the space.

Your support will help up to sustain a public space where the built environment is not just discussed, but critically examined and collectively shaped.
