Event description

Want to learn some new tech in the holidays? This course will teach kids (grades 5-9) how to design and build new 3D creations using Fusion 360 (CAD software). 3D design skills will help open up new pathways in STEM.

This holiday course will run over 3 sessions on Wednesday to Friday (5th to 7th July) from 9AM to 12PM each day.

This is a beginner to intermediate course, taught by Finn (grade 9 student) - who is one of the leaders of the Hub’s Young Inventor Club.

Session 1 is just for kids who are new to Fusion 360. In this session, you’ll get up and running with Fusion 360 – free ‘hobbyist’ version (we’ll help you install the software if you have problems) and you’ll learn the basic skills for creating 3D objects. After this session, you’ll be ready for sessions 2 and 3 where you’ll build further skills by working on designing a medieval castle pen holder and other cool objects. At the end of the course everyone will be given one to take home!

For kids who already have basic skills in Fusion 360, we recommend you skip session 1 and signup for Sessions 2 and 3 where you’ll extend your skills to intermediate level by working on the project. You’ll be expected to have Fusion 360 pre-installed on your laptop and be ready to get creating.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Finn via email - finnbritton6@gmail.com
