Design. Build. Fly. - Final
In this hands-on two-day workshop, students aged 10–14 will design, build, and fly their own custom drones, which they get to bring home.
They’ll learn engineering design using Onshape CAD software, assemble real flight electronics, and explore how to optimize drone body shapes for stability and performance.

Basics of aerodynamics and drone structure
3D design with Onshape (Industry used CAD)
Understanding weight balance, strength, and airflow
Safe assembly and flight operation

22 September 9-12pm – Learn & Design (3 hours)
Introduction to drones and how they fly
Onshape fundamentals and modelling practice
Design a custom drone body
I’ll 3D print their design overnight
24 September 9-12pm – Build & Fly (3 hours)
Assemble electronics and final drone body
Learn tuning and control setup
Test and fly their drone

FAQs
- Does my child need previous experience?
No, not at all. The workshop is suitable for all skill levels. Beginners can follow the main build, and those with more experience can take it further and customise their drone. Everyone ends up with a custom take home drone :)
- Are the people running this workshop qualified?
Elora and I have run many workshops before and have experience working with students of different ages and skill levels. I’ve also competed twice on the international stage in robotics, which has given me strong technical experience that I bring into each workshop.
