Description

Cambridge alumni, friends and guests are warmly invited to our June Lunch Speaker Series for an exclusive discussion on the future of construction through 3D concrete printing, featuring P1LLAR Director Karl Vaitiekunas, Dune Building Technologies Founder Ash Quiddington and Edward Bond, Principal at Robert Bird Group.

Drawing on live project experience, the speakers will explore how automated and robotic construction methods are reshaping the industry through faster delivery, reduced labour demand, minimised waste, improved material performance and expanded design possibilities.

Karl Vaitiekunas is a project management and construction professional with more than 16 years’ experience delivering residential, commercial and infrastructure projects across Victoria. He holds a Master of Construction Management from The University of Melbourne and spent a year as an associate member at St Edmund’s College, Cambridge. His work in modern methods of construction includes current 3D concrete printing applications across townhouse developments in Kensington, a residential project in Portsea, and geothermal plunge pools at Peninsula Hot Springs.

Ash Quiddington is the Founder of Dune Building Technologies and Director of Oasis Building Group, a registered builder leading innovative construction from Ballarat across Australia. Passionate about industry transformation, Ash is driving the adoption of 3D concrete printed construction across residential and commercial projects, delivering faster builds, improved performance, and practical, durable solutions for the future of housing.

Through Dune Building Technologies, Ash is helping accelerate the transition towards smarter and faster construction practices. Drawing on hands-on project experience, he provides a unique perspective on the opportunities and future potential of automated construction, advanced building technologies, and their role in shaping the next generation of the built environment

Edward Bond is a Principal at Robert Bird Group. He is a structural engineer with experience delivering projects across Melbourne, London and Dubai, spanning heritage refurbishments through to major mixed-use developments. Edward focuses on low-carbon design and embodied carbon reduction across project delivery. Dune Building Technologies has partnered with Robert Bird Group on structural engineering for 3D concrete printing applications.
