3Rs of Family Violence: Family Violence Disclosure Training for the Community

Many people who experience family violence often first talk to someone they know and trust rather than a professional service. We believe everyone in the community should be trained in knowing how to safely handle a disclosure and respond to family violence- to ensure both the victim survivor and person receiving the disclosure are safe and supported. This training will help you to:

Feel confident to:

• RECOGNISE: Understand and learn to recognise the signs of family violence

• RESPOND: Build key skills in responding to disclosures or safely ask questions if you suspect a friend or colleague may be experiencing violence

• REFER: Understand that it is not your role to hold this on your own- there are key family violence services available in the community. Know how to safely ‘refer’ a person experiencing family violence to the right support.

This event is FREE.

NOTE: This session will only go ahead if a minimum of 6 participants are registered 7 days prior to the event. If the event is cancelled, registered participants will be contacted via email.

This free session is available to community members who live, work, volunteer or play in the City of Monash, Victoria, Australia. This session is funded through Monash City Council's Equality and Respect Grant. The 3Rs of Family Violence training is a program of FVREE, a specialist family violence service.
