Event description

Flying from clay tablet to iPad, the disruptive nature of media is explored. When Europeans reached Aotearoa, it was well part of Western culture, and showered upon Māori without concern. But as instant global information sped up, media has become more divisive and less trustworthy in the world’s premiere state. Could that happen in New Zealand too? Can learning from the past help us face the future?

Featuring our speakers Bryan Winters: Tedx and international speaker, internationally published author and BOP Volunteer of the year 2024, and

Buddy Mikaere: Widely published, renowned Māori historian, Former Director of the Waitangi Tribunal, Environmentalist and consultant.

Both speakers are current active members of the Rotary Club of Tauranga Sunrise.

Proceeds from this event will support Rotary Youth Programme of Enrichment, RYPEN. An annual programme run by our local clubs that uses the common bonds of learning, co-operation, and friendship to design activities which facilitate trust and self-esteem. RYPEN seeks to broaden each participant's horizons culturally, socially, and academically, providing the inner foundations for a strong future.
