49th-Day Soor Puja for Nepal/Tibet flood victims
Description
Join us for the 49th-Day Soor Puja, a traditional Tibetan Buddhist offering ceremony, held at the Sakya Temple of Peace on Wednesday 14 October at 6:00pm.
This particular puja is dedicated to those who lost their lives in the recent floods in Nepal and Tibet, offering prayers and merit on their behalf. Lama Choedak Rinpoche will lead the ceremony.
A Soor Puja is a traditional ceremony undertaken by Tibetan Buddhists to help the deceased in their passage through the afterlife (the "bardo"). Offerings and prayers are made on behalf of those who have passed, generating merit and dedicating it for their benefit — it is one of the most common ways Tibetan Buddhists support loved ones, and all beings, after death.
All are welcome to attend, including members of the local Tibetan and Nepalese community. This is a donation-based event — your generosity helps us continue offering ceremonies like this for the benefit of all beings.
