What are the 5 Key Areas of Risk in home care and why are these important?

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has published a document on the 5 Key Areas of Risk in home care. This document sets out guidance for governing bodies for home service providers. This guidance was produced in response to an analysis of complaints, performance assessments, compliance outcomes and other data and intelligence to determine the 5 key risks in home care. This document is a gift to home care providers as it clearly sets out the key aspects of focus and what providers need to have in place.

Providers who fully implement this guide are likely to minimise compliance risks. More importantly, adequately addressing these 5 Key risks will likely result in satisfied consumers, high-quality care and effective governance oversight. However, we recognise that some of these aspects look simple but may be more challenging to implement.
