5 Years of Blossom Rot Records

Blossom Rot Records has reached the momentous age of 5 years old! They grow up so fast :’)

Rewind to 2020 - Nat’s band (Soph’s favourite band) Dianas had just recorded a red hot new album, and couldn’t find a label home for it. Soph and Nat, twin flames from way back, had found themselves living parallel lives between Eora/Sydney and Naarm/Melbourne as artists and music industry dabblers with an unrivalled enthusiasm for gals making noise and a dedication to all things DIY. We were swimming in the sparkling ocean at sunset in Towradgi NSW when the first business meeting occurred, not too far from Soph’s veggie patch where an abundant zucchini crop had been struck by a grave case of blossom rot. A few phone calls were made, a few hands were shook, and in the time it takes to press a record (8 weeks to be safe), Dianas released Baby Baby on blood red vinyl, and Blossom Rot Records was born. 

In the 5 years since, we’ve worked hard to create a label home for artists that is founded on love, respect, autonomy and community. The music industry is a challenging world to navigate, and we take great pleasure in empowering artists to release music in a way that feels right to them. On the cusp of our 30th release (a very special compilation spanning our entire roster, naturally), we couldn’t be more overjoyed with what’s played out and what’s still to come. To many more!
