About 5Rhythms Adelaide

5Rhythms is a free form dance of deep surrender, a moving prayer, a medicinal prescription of furious dancing for these graphic times.

Created by Gabrielle Roth and practiced for decades by tens of thousands worldwide, 5Rhythms is a philosophy, perspective, performance art and a dynamic movement practice rooted in the principle that if you put the psyche in motion it will heal itself. Movement is both the medicine and the metaphor, reaching across all languages, cultures and age groups to transform suffering into art, art into awareness, and awareness into action. Wherever the 5Rhythms are practiced, a community is born to dance, to sweat, to change, to support, and to provide a safe space for each of us to shatter the ego's hold and awaken the juicy, unpredictable, fascinating, edge-walking, rock star part of ourselves that yearns to be free. WHAT TO EXPECT:

5Rhythms® is a kickass dynamic moving meditation that journeys through a mandala map called the Wave-Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, Stillness

As you enter the dance space, most likely the teacher will be playing a Wave for you to warm up to. This is a time for you to warm up from the inside out. Take some time to tune into your body, surrender the day and allow your body to guide you with what it needs as you transition through the 5Rhythms, Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, Stillness

After the warm up, the teacher will guide you through the 5Rhythms and more Waves will be danced. Please pace yourself where you need to be. You know your body best.

Dance YOUR dance, for you, your body holds the medicine you need.

Due to Covid soft shoes or socks with grips need to be worn

CHAT FREE

The Dance Floor is a sacred silent space. Please talk in the foyer before or after class.

Your silence on the dance floor makes all the difference

SUBSTANCE FREE

We get high on being alive!

JUDGEMENT FREE

All people are welcome. We all evolve in our own timing
