6pm Speakeasy @ Austin Club: a spoken word event in the heart of Ōtautahi's CBD.

Coming at you live with a fresh new feature, last Wednesday of every month.

MCed by Jor Dansaren and generously hosted by Austin Club Basement Bar - 161 Cashel Street, Christchurch.

Tickets available on following scale:

$5 - early bird/concession

July feature: Ciaran Fox!

Ciaran Fox is an enthusiast, sensualist, thinker of thoughts, feeler of feels, bon vivant, father and skateboarder. His writing has been published in various literary journals in Aotearoa and he has toured and appeared in arts and literary festivals around the motu with groups such as Lyttelton Poets, Whisky Chasers, Love Letters in the Margin and Catalyst Road Show. He is the regular host of the Ōtautahi Poetry Slam. Co-founder of literary journal Catalyst, he has been helping to create space on the page and stage, for young and emerging poets alongside international writers, for more than 20 years. In 2023 his first collection of poetry They Crackle in the Rain was published through The Republic of Oma Rāpeti Press and was runner-up for the inaugural John O’Connor First Book of Poetry award. He followed this with the collective chapbook Famous Last Words (2024) published with the resident poets at The Last Word in Christchurch.
