Friday 7 March MSC Meeting at Knox City Council
Event description
We are honoured to welcome Commissioner Vivienne Nguyen AM, the Chairperson of the Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC), to speak on the priorities of the VMC. This event is particularly significant as it coincides with the 8th of March, International Women's Day, a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
Vivienne Nguyen is a distinguished leader with over 25 years of experience in corporate, community, and government settings. She is known for her dedication to multiculturalism and community engagement. As a proud Vietnamese-Australian woman, Vivienne has passionately advocated diversity and inclusion throughout her career.
Vivienne's leadership at the VMC has been marked by her commitment to advancing the social objectives of multicultural communities. She has held executive roles in various organizations, including AustChoice Financial Services, AMP Asset Management, and ANZ Banking Group, where she led their global diversity strategy. Her work has earned her numerous accolades, including induction into the Victorian Honour Roll for advocating women's leadership, and the Australian Centenary Medal.
Significance of International Women's Day
International Women's Day is a time to celebrate women's achievements and call for gender equality. It is a day to reflect on the progress made and recognize the work that still needs to be done to achieve gender parity. Having Vivienne Nguyen speak on the priorities of the VMC during this time underscores the importance of women's leadership in driving positive change in our communities.
Join us for this insightful event as we celebrate the contributions of women like Vivienne Nguyen and explore the priorities of the Victorian Multicultural Commission.
Victorian Multicultural Commission's Cultural Diversity Week
As you may know, Cultural Diversity Week is just around the corner. It will take place across Victoria from 17 to 23 March, and we’d love for you to be a part of this celebration. Visit our website to learn how you and your organisation can get involved.
Cultural Diversity Week is a time to celebrate the power, influence, and stories of Victoria's rich multicultural communities, and all Victorians are invited to participate through various in-person events and activities.
If you are hosting any events during the week of March 17 - 23, use the flyer (in the event resources on VMCs website) and register your event on VMC Connect. This will ensure your participation and help us promote your event to a wider audience. VMConnect is an online noticeboard, where members can share information, services, initiatives, programs, and events that are of interest to Victoria's multicultural communities.
