Session 1: 7pm, Thursday 15th October
Dive deep into the ancient philosophies of the Yamas and the Niyamas: Like all philosophies these are open for discussion and interpretation. Lauren will present each as she sees them, and you, as students, will be welcome to add your interpretation, agreements, disagreements and potential applications. The Yamas and the Niyamas have applications both on and off the mat, and can be truly life changing. A fascinating discussion.
Session 2: 7pm, Thursday 22nd October
The practical applications of the 8 Limbs of Yoga: Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dyana, Samadhi. These will involve some discussion and some practice, have a mat/space prepared. Enjoy learning about some lesser known practices and enjoy the deep relaxation they invoke.
General explanation: The 8 Limbs of Yoga introduces aspects of Yoga well beyond the Asana or postures. Many people begin their Yoga Journey for the benefits that the Asana give, but stay and progress through the other 7 limbs with growing interest and dedication, as they see the full potential of these practices for mind, body and soul. The ancient Yogis have been practicing these limbs for centuries, knowing through both tradition and experience the incredible growth they offer for the whole self. Taking time to understand and practice the 8 Limbs of Yoga is something that is unattainable in normal classes - join Lauren Stokes as we take the time to immerse in it all.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER
Lauren originally trained in Rishikesh, India 15 years ago, and has been teaching a variety of Yoga practices in NZ since. Her training in India was different to western Yoga teacher trainings, where Asana was just one small part of the whole experience as opposed to being the main focus. Lauren was taught by an Indian master with a PhD in Pranayama - and learnt how to use all aspects of the 8 limbs of Yoga in a medicinal approach. Traditional Indian Yoga teacher training focuses more on the philosophies, pranayama, pratyahara and deep inner workings of the self - over and above Asana. Lauren is passionate about sharing these aspects of Yoga which are often omitted in the western world.
