#9 - Tai Chi & Qiqong with Cindy Brine

Event description

So far this term, we have explored mindful practices and the power of the breath; tonight, we will combine these elements with the gentle flowing movements of Qigong and Tai Chi under the expert guidance of Cindy Brine. A Beaches local, Cindy has practised Tai Chi for over 40 years and Qigong for 12 years, she offers classes on Thursday mornings 9:30 - 10 :30 at Jameson park on Narrabeen Lake.

Please wear loose comfortable clothing and flat, flexible soled shoes. This class will be a standing class, chairs can be provided if required.

This session will cover the basic stance, posture and breathing required to centre yourself in preparation for our Qigong practice. The practice commences by working with the joints to start the flow of energy in the body. We will then introduce a flow of Shibashi Qigong which will relax and relieve any stress in your body and clear the mind. The second part of the session will include some basic Tai Chi patterns, including Tai Chi walking and a few moves from the 24Yang Style. Concluding the session with some Standing Qigong to ground and self massage with acupressure.

Benefits you can experience from a regular practice of qigong are a calm mind and nervous system, allowing a rejuvenation of self, release of mental and muscular stress, clarity of thought and improved circulation of energy in your body.

A note on Ticket price:

As part of our commitment to making these sessions accessible to all in our community, we offer flexible ticket prices. If you can afford more than the minimum ticket price, your contribution will help ensure this initiative remains sustainable and accessible to all.
