A backpack, a chair and a beard- Eamon @Alike
Event description
An evening of stories, snacks, and connection.
Join us for a special evening celebrating our friend Eamon Wood and his extraordinary life story. We’ll gather to hear a live chapter reading from A Backpack, A Chair and A Beard, a memoir that’s equal parts adventure, humour, and heart.
About Eamon:
A paraplegic since the age of four, Eamon found ways to give his wheelchair wings. He became the number one seed in New Zealand men’s wheelchair tennis, represented his country in wheelchair basketball, and travelled the world with his teams. But the safe predictability of sport wasn’t enough. At twenty-eight, he set off alone — hitchhiking around New Zealand, across the UK and USA, and through the lakes and fjords of Europe. He slept rough, busked, took odd jobs, met unforgettable characters, and found himself in the process.
