Join us for a special evening of theater, conversation, and celebration in support of A Bright Room Called Day.

A Bright Room Called Day follows a group of artists and activists in 1930s Berlin as fascism takes hold around them. As their political reality changes, they find themselves confronting questions about whether to wait or act, stay or go, and what they owe one another when the stakes become impossible to ignore.

Kushner wrote the play in the 1980s as a response to Reagan's America. Nearly forty years later, its questions about political fear, artistic responsibility, friendship, and resistance have taken on an unsettling new resonance.

We're presenting the play in an intimate Brooklyn home, with the audience just a few feet from the actors. The setting brings you unusually close to the lives and choices at the center of the story. For this special performance, we'll extend that intimacy beyond the play itself, bringing the audience and artists together for an evening of conversation and celebration.

This production stars Molly Rose Heller*, Aubyn Heglie*, Aja Downing*, Portal Rose, Jonathan Bock, Ivory Aquino, Toni Jenkins, Michael Cavadias, Gideon Thaler, and Tom Nelis*. Stage managed by Hunter McIlvain, set and costume design by Justin Caron, sound design by Sid Diamond, projection design by Evan Frank, and lighting design by Jordan Barnett. Theresa Buchheister is the production’s Fairy Godfather.

The show will run for 2 hours with one intermission.

The home is accessed up one flight of stairs. All tickets are general admission first come first serve, (unless reserved in advance via higher ticket tier). Fog may be used in this performance.

Transportation:
The apartment is closest to the C train Kingston-Throop Avs stop and the 3 train Kingston Av stop, as well as off the B43, B65, B15, B45, B25, and B44 bus lines. It’s also within walking distance of the A train Nostrand Av and Utica Av stops and the 2, 3, 4, 5 Nostrand Av and Crown Hts-Utica Av stops, and the LIRR Nostrand Av stop.
