A Christmas Together
Description
Four choirs.
One concert band.
A community united in song.
There's something special about Christmas when people come together. Familiar melodies, shared memories, the joy of singing alongside one another, and the simple pleasure of belonging.
This December, Inachord Singers Tauranga warmly invites you to A Christmas Together, a festive afternoon bringing musical communities from across the Bay of Plenty together for a celebration of music, friendship and the spirit of the season.
Joining Inachord are the Katikati Mural Town Singers, Te Aroha Community Choir, Rotorua District Choir and Katikati Concert Band, as well as multiple other regional instrumentalists each bringing their own musical character, traditions and talents to this special gathering.
Throughout the afternoon, each choir will share a selection of music, while the Katikati Concert Band brings its own festive colour and energy. And then, in some of the afternoon's most memorable moments, our musicians will come together as one, filling St Peter's with the extraordinary sound of massed voices and instruments.
But this isn't simply a concert to sit and listen to.
It's an invitation to sing.
Together, we'll share in some of Christmas's most beloved carols, including Once in Royal David's City, O Come, All Ye Faithful and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. Whether you're a confident singer or someone who usually saves their finest performances for the car, your voice is welcome.
The afternoon will also feature Leroy Anderson's exhilarating A Christmas Festival, Dan Forrest's moving arrangement of Auld Lang Syne, and a shared Silent Night to bring our gathering to a gentle close.
At Inachord, we believe music is about more than the notes we sing. It's about the friendships we nurture, the communities we strengthen, and the moments of connection that remind us we belong to something greater than ourselves.
That spirit of community extends beyond the music, as a portion of proceeds will be dedicated to supporting Good Neighbour, a local charity doing wonderful work bringing care, practical support and connection to people across our region.
So bring your family, invite a friend, and join us for an afternoon of familiar carols, beautiful music, festive joy and shared celebration. Because Christmas is all the more meaningful when we experience it together.
Come, Gather in Song.
Lineup

Katikati Mural Town Singers
The Katikati Mural Town Singers are a popular community choir based in Katikati, New Zealand. The group began in 2007 as a men's choir (originally called the Katikati Maestros, alongside a women's group called the Divas) before amalgamating into a mixed-voice community choir in 2013. The choir welcomes both men and women with no formal auditions required. Music direction is led by Malcolm Gapes (with past direction by Edwin Randell and Jeanette Hasell-Back), and the group frequently looks for pianists and accompanists

Te Aroha Singers Community Choir
The Te Aroha Community Choir brings people together through the shared joy of singing. Welcoming singers of all ages and abilities, the choir offers a friendly, inclusive environment where everyone can discover and develop their voice, with no auditions or previous experience required. Meeting every Wednesday evening in Te Aroha, members enjoy singing together, exploring a varied repertoire, developing harmonies and building confidence in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. The choir shares its music with the wider community through one or two concerts each year, celebrating not only the joy of singing but also the friendships and connections that grow along the way. Whether you're an experienced singer or simply curious about joining a choir, Te Aroha Community Choir welcomes you to be part of the music.

Rotorua District Choir
The Rotorua District Choir is a community choir located in Rotorua. We unite singers to perform a diverse repertoire of choral music and collaborate with musicians from New Zealand and around the world. The choir frequently offers performance opportunities for local soloists and welcomes all singers.

Katikati Concert Band
Katikati Concert Band (KCB) is a community group featuring woodwind, brass and percussion players, under the baton of Musical Director Hiro Kobayashi. The band has been based in Katikati since September 1890, attracting players from Tauranga to Paeroa and sometimes beyond. We welcome musicians of all ages and abilities. We play a range of fun and challenging music, from classics to modern wind band repertoire, pop songs, movie themes, marches and more. We perform at a range of community events (ANZAC, A&P Shows, Matariki, Christmas etc), host our own concerts several times each year, and compete at annual music festivals. We regularly collaborate with local choirs and other bands, and host special weekend events open to visitors.

Good Neighbour
Good Neighbour is a Tauranga-based charity dedicated to building stronger, more connected communities through kindness, generosity and shared purpose. Guided by the belief that everyone has something to give and everyone has something to receive, Good Neighbour brings people together to support one another and create lasting change. Through the generosity of volunteers, local businesses and community partners, Good Neighbour connects those who want to help with those who need support, creating meaningful opportunities for everyone to contribute. More than simply providing services, Good Neighbour nurtures a culture of belonging, compassion and collective responsibility, helping build a Tauranga where no one faces life's challenges alone. At its heart is a simple vision: a city where neighbours don't just live alongside one another, but genuinely care for one another.
FAQs
- Will there be door sales available?
Yes, with Eftpos and Cash sales available! Unfortunately, no PayWave ability.
- There are multiple ticket options. Which do I choose?
All ticket options offer exactly the same festive experience. We've simply provided a few different price points so you can contribute what feels right for you.
Choose the ticket that suits your circumstances, or pay a little extra if you're feeling particularly generous!
And while a $20 ticket won't get you a better seat, a backstage pass or the chance to conduct the band (we did consider it), it will help us continue bringing people together through the joy of music.
Come for the carols, stay for the community, and leave with a little more Christmas spirit!
