    Event description

In conjunction with the Department of Health, Autism Partnership is proud to bring this two-day workshop to you.

Join Dr Greg Hanley to explore PFA-SBT, a groundbreaking approach to addressing complex behaviour in educational settings.

Practical Functional Assessment and Skills-Based Treatment (PFA- SBT) is an evidence-based approach to addressing behaviours of concern. PFA-SBT focuses on reducing behaviours of concern while placing a high priority on safety, student dignity, and practical application.

It focuses on identifying when children are happy, relaxed, and engaged and subsequently teaching them positive skills to meet their needs while enhancing their safety, wellbeing and participation.

Please note registration will commence at 8.15 am.

    What the workshop will cover:

Through lectures, interactive discussions, and application exercises, attendees will learn:

    • The latest iteration of assessment and teaching procedures with this approach.
    • Strategies for maximising safety and dignity throughout the process, as well as for strengthening student-educator relationships.
    • The skill-building process - teaching students communication and toleration repertoires and then engaging and persisting with personally challenging tasks (e.g., academics, social skills activities).
    • The choice models for further minimising risks and for meeting the needs of students with advanced language skills.
