A Conversation with SPHINX at the Mexican Cultural Institute
Description
A Conversation with SPHINX
Raíces en Diálogo brings together the Anna H. Wang Concert Series, Sphinx, and the Mexican Cultural Institute in a celebration of artistic exchange, cultural connection, and the power of live music.
Through a diverse selection of works, this recital explores the rich musical traditions of the Americas and the ways in which music creates bridges across communities, histories, and borders.

About the Program
The program brings together music shaped by the sounds, rhythms, and expressive traditions of Latin America and the wider Americas. From the Brazilian character of Noites Cariocas to the lyrical voice of Florence Price, the Mexican song tradition of Manuel Ponce, the tango of La Cumparsita, and José White's Cuban-inflected La Bella Cubana, the repertoire invites listeners to experience the many ways musical identity can be expressed through the string quartet.
Live introuctions
The musicians of the Sphinx String Quartet will introduce the works through the presentation. No separate program notes will be provided; these live introductions will offer context and guide the audience through the musical journey.
With Gratitude
Thank you for joining us and for supporting collaborative artistic experiences that celebrate cultural exchange, representation, and access to live music.
