Join us for an inspiring evening with Gabriela Ortiz, Grammy Award–winning composer (2025) and composer-in-residence at The Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Philharmonia Orchestra (London), and Palau de la Música Catalana (Barcelona).

This intimate conversation will explore Gabriela’s extraordinary career, her creative journey, the impact of her music on the global stage, and the vital role of women in the music industry today. We’ll also reflect on the transformative power of art in our current times.

MISSION

The Mexican Cultural Institute of Washington, D.C. is committed to enriching the relationship between Mexico and the United States by sharing Mexico’s vibrant cultural past and present with the local community. Since its establishment in 1990, the Institute has succeeded in presenting diverse, ongoing cultural programs and has become a thriving artistic center in the heart of Washington. Over the past three decades, the Institute has developed cultural programming in partnership with many institutions in the nation’s capital, including the Smithsonian Institution, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the National Gallery of Art, and the Library of Congress.

A new phase at the Institute features the following focal points for development:

Mexico as a plural, diverse, and creative culture
Artistic dialogue between Mexico and the United States
Education for the arts

The Mexican Cultural Institute is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that relies on private, corporate, and foundation support to fulfill its mission.

OUTREACH

We have extended invitations to students from around the Washington Metropolitan area through a restructured Outreach program. We welcome our younger audiences to the Institute to learn about the vibrancy of Mexican Culture and develop a deeper cultural awareness. Guided Tours are available, free of charge.
