A Family Affair with Music In Exile
Event description
Share the joyous vibrations of West Africa and Lebanon in this family-friendly gig and drumming workshop
At an Ausecuma Beats gig, the band lights up when the crowd connects with their deep Afrobeat grooves and sends that energy back. So, why not get the kids started young with West African rhythms? That’s the idea behind Bouba's Drumming Picnic—a family-friendly drumming workshop led by master djembe player, Boubacar Gaye from Ausecuma Beats.
The day kicks off with a set from Beirut /Narrm’s Camille Feghali, the musician/producer behind "Tarabeat," a collective that seamlessly blends Arabic traditional music with electronic elements. There’ll be DJ sets from Australian/Māori producer and musician Kuzco. Ausecuma Beats will be full force for a closing set.
It’s all thanks to Music in Exile, the Collingwood-based level and artist services charity that works with culturally and linguistically diverse migrants to provide pathways in music.
