Join us at Event Cinemas Westgate for a special double-feature Malayalam short film screening!

Proudly presented by Orchid Films in association with the Auckland Malayali Samajam, we are bringing two contrasting worlds to the big screen. Celebrate independent cinema with these powerful, female-centric tales that explore human beliefs, generational divides, and the stories that shape us all.

The Films

GenZ An award-winning film that goes beyond entertainment. Directed by Jose Sunny, this powerful story speaks to both parents and youth about the challenges, pressures, and realities of growing up in today’s world. Thought-provoking, relatable, and deeply human, GenZ opens the door to conversations that families often struggle to have. A must-watch for the younger generation, and a wake-up call for parents.

Nandini Set against the lush, rain-swept backdrop of Northern Kerala, the film follows Nandini, a young dance teacher, through an unusual stormy evening. Directed by Binoop Visweswaran, Nandini explores folklore, traditional beliefs, faith, and rational thinking, showing how a single incident can be interpreted entirely differently depending on individual perspectives and beliefs.
