Firewalk: The Next Step

27 September | 3pm | Bisley Yurt, Miles Green Farm, Bisley

Have you ever woken up and thought: "I'd quite like to walk barefoot across burning embers."

Probably not!

So, what is it that draws people there?

Awakening

Fire is at the centre of our existence.

You are invited to notice your thoughts, physical sensations and emotional responses as you move towards the fire.

Firewalk: The Next Step is an afternoon for anyone curious about what happens inside them when they move towards something uncertain.

Through discussion, movement, shared experiences, and eventually the fire itself, you'll have opportunities to notice how you respond to uncertainty, what helps you take action, and what happens when you decide to take the next step.

You might come with something particular in mind: a change you're considering, a decision you're making, something you'd like to move towards or something you're ready to leave behind. You don't need to. Curiosity about the experience is enough.

Humans evolved in groups, and our bodies still respond to experiences of shared purpose and connection. Building and tending the fire together brings some of those familiar human conditions into the afternoon.

Throughout the afternoon, there will be opportunities for discussion, reflection, movement and shared experiences designed to encourage curiosity about where you are in life and where you may be heading next.

You are invited to notice your thoughts, physical sensations and emotional responses as you move towards the fire.

As evening approaches, attention turns towards the firewalk.

Fire has sat at the centre of human gatherings for ever. People have cooked around it, told stories around it and marked important moments around it.

We'll spend time gathering wood, building the fire, tending it and appreciating it - together - before anyone takes a single step across the coals. Walking across hot coals offers a rare opportunity to engage with fire in a direct and memorable way.

We approach the firewalk gently but with enthusiasm, preparation and guidance throughout.

No previous experience is required.

This workshop is open to anyone who would like to uncover their relationship with uncertainty, action and trust, before taking part in a professionally facilitated firewalk within a supportive group environment.

NOTE THIS WORKSHOP IS NOT AT THE BURROW'S NORMAL SITE IN FRENSHAM. THIS WORKSHOP IS IN BISLEY, SURREY.

About Juliet

Juliet Hollingsworth is the founder of The Burrow and a private therapist. For almost 20 years, she has worked with people experiencing stress, anxiety, addiction and major life transitions. Through this work she became increasingly interested in a simple question: why do so many people struggle when their lives look perfectly fine on paper? Her work explores how human evolution continues to shape our needs, behaviours and wellbeing, helping people understand themselves through the lens of what it means to be human.

She holds an MSc in Consciousness, Spirituality and Transpersonal Psychology and has trained in authentic relating, spiritual leadership and embodied group facilitation. Alongside her therapeutic work, Juliet is the creator of Human Mismatch Theory, a framework that explores how many of the difficulties people experience today can be understood through the gap between the lives humans evolved to live and the realities of modern life.

Drawing on years of clinical practice, research and personal exploration, Juliet creates thoughtful, engaging workshops that help people make sense of their experiences and develop a deeper understanding of their own needs. She brings together clinical experience, research and a lifelong curiosity about what humans need to live well. You can find out more about her work at juliethollingsworth.com

The Burrow

I started The Burrow in April 2024, providing a space for people to come together to heal, transform, connect and celebrate.

Most of our events have holistic wellbeing in mind, all guided by skilled facilitators. We have CIC status, which is designed for businesses that aim to benefit the community, rather than private shareholders. CICs are a form of social enterprise, where profits are generally reinvested into the community or used to support the company’s social mission. In time, we hope to get funding to improve the facilities, which will make some events easier during the rainier months. Every ticket you purchase gets us a little closer to our bigger plans.

“I” refers to myself – Juliet. I am a transpersonal hypnotherapist passionate about nature and human connection as tools for healing. My journey began in finance, but I soon shifted to hypnotherapy, ultimately completing an MSc focused on consciousness, spirituality, and transpersonal psychology. This study encouraged open-minded exploration and the integration of ancient traditions, introspection, and critical thinking into my work. Inspired by Krishnamurti’s teachings on self-awareness and freedom from conditioning, I aim to make The Burrow a space where people reconnect with nature, each other, and themselves through self-inquiry and meaningful connection.

We are slowly opening up the ticket booking schedule for next year. Keep your eyes open! If you’d prefer to keep off socials, the best way to get information is to “follow” The Burrow on here to be notified of any new events. We also have a website http://theburrowfarnham.co.uk .
