The Department of Health is holding a series of webinars to share information about the aged care reforms announced in the 2021-22 Budget and in response to the Aged Care Royal Commission.

These webinars are an opportunity for anyone who uses or needs aged care, who works in aged care or who has an interest in improving aged care in Australia to learn more about the reforms.

Webinars will include presentations from Minister for Health, the Hon Greg Hunt and Minister for Senior Australians and Aged Care Services, the Hon Richard Colbeck, as well as presentations and panel discussions by senior officials from Department of Health.

A focus on dementia

This webinar focuses on how aged care reforms will improve quality of life and care for people living with dementia.

People living with dementia, families and carers and people who work with or support people living with dementia are encouraged to attend to find out more about the Government’s response to the Aged Care Royal Commission.

The Australian Government will invest $229.4 million to improve quality of life and care for people living with dementia, while improving the sector’s focus on delivering care that meets the needs of people throughout their dementia journey. These initiatives will support people living with dementia and their carers at every stage from diagnosis through to residential aged care.

Find out how aged care reforms will ensure people living with dementia are:

  • connected with the support they need post-diagnosis
  • enabled to remain in their home for longer
  • able to access high quality, dementia informed aged care services.

We’ll cover how aged care reforms will deliver increased training and support for aged care workers to help them in adopting better dementia care practices.

During the webinar we'll ask you questions about how we can best work with aged care providers, the workforce, families, carers and people living with dementia to make positive changes.
