A Hazardous Life Captain George Forsyth (1843-1894) Mariner and first harbour master for the Colony of Western Australia


Ian Forsyth will discuss his book A Hazardous Life, which tells the story of 19th-century Fremantle figure George Forsyth, a key maritime leader who rose through the ranks despite clashing with the colonial elite. The talk will cover Forsyth’s dramatic career, including shipwrecks, rescues, and battles with a resistant bureaucracy.


Drinks and nibbles will be served at each event around 5.00 pm, before the talk at 5.30 pm.
