Event description

‘A Huge House II' Lecture Series organised by Guillermo Fernández-Abascal from the Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning

A Huge House II explores the resurgence of student housing in the architectural debate. Student housing is an old programme, an archaic type, a prototype for the repeatability of modern living, and at the same time, a simple programme asking complex questions today. This lecture series invites three international practitioners to discuss this domestic typology as the ultimate project to test contemporary life.

The series will consist of 3 talks — 45-60 minutes in duration — unfolding over 3 Australian evenings. Each informal session will focus on a singular student housing project (40min) and will close with a long shot/question by different faculty/member of the teaching team.
