Event description

A leg up: two day dance workshop with the legendary Rosalind Crisp

11am - 4pm Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 October

Description:

How do we get off the floor when the body at rest is already buzzing with sensations? Why get up? What assists us to perform dance, and bridge that vast chasm between private bodily comfort and full-on public exposure? Rosalind Crisp is back, making up more excuses to keep dancing.

For 40 years, Rosalind Crisp has been critiquing dance through dancing, in a consistently, long-running solo & collaborative, studio research practice, at amongst other studios, Omeo Dance, Sydney, which she founded in 1996, Atelier de Paris where she was Associate Artist for ten years, Orbost Studio for Dance Research which she co-founded in 2021, and in the devastated primary forests of East Gippsland. Long term colleagues include Lizzie Thomson, Phoebe Robinson, Céline Debyser, Isabelle Ginot, Susan Leigh Foster, Andrew Morrish, Vic McEwan, Peter Fraser, ... In 2015 France made Rosalind a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres (Knight/dame of the Arts).
