A Net Zero University - Sustainable Business Travel Workshop

The University’s Net Zero Plan 2040 was developed through extensive consultation in 2022-23 and approved by Senate in June 2023. The Plan was formally launched in October 2023.  

In a direct response to the Net Zero Plan, work is underway to look at ways to reduce our carbon footprint across all areas of our operations and functions, including updating the University Travel Policy to encourage more sustainable business-related travel.

A number of engagement workshops were held in October 2023 where the views of staff were sought on the development of this policy. Initial travel guidance has now been drafted and we are seeking input from colleagues as we prepare the final draft documents before UMB approval.

Colleagues are invited to attend a follow-up workshop to consider the draft guidance and to help refine the recommendations in the context of Strategy 2030 and our commitment to Net Zero by 2040.

The next workshop will be held on Wednesday 31 January, 1pm and 2pm, online via Microsoft Teams.
