A NIGHT AT THE ADONIS: A Bijou Video Screening at the Leather Archives & Museum
Event description
“So this is gay American history…”
A NIGHT AT THE ADONIS was filmed at the Adonis Theater, New York City's most notorious gay adult cinema of the 1970's and 80's, by Hand in Hand Films co-founder Jack Deveau in 1978. As with many of the titles from the "golden age of gay porn", ADONIS remains a timeless document of gay culture. As a farce on the logistics of cruising, Deveau shoots the film in "CRUISE-O-RAMA" by steadicam tracking through the Adonis as patrons convene and conjugate with each other. Featuring (uncredited) music selections from Donna Summer, Sylvester, and even Marlene Dietrich.
