    Event description

Australia's Constitution was written by men for men. Although it was one of the first countries to give women the vote, Australia is still lagging in gender equity.

Professor Kim Rubenstein, constitutional lawyer and activist for gender equality, will lead us through the history of this involvement and the role of women in the Constitution, including her own role in constructing the Australian Choice Model. This is the model proposed by the ARM to make Australia a republic.

There will be a discussion on how women can be equally and actively included as the ARM campaigns and educates for a referendum to change the Constitution, so that we have an Australian as Australia’s Head of State. What can the ARM Women’s Network do? And what can each of us do as part of the Network?

This is a meeting for women - ARM members and non-member republic supporters both welcome. The ARM Women’s Network Management Group will also be in attendance.

Attendance is free but a donation is appreciated to help cover costs.

We can't just wait for it to happen. We have to make it happen!

Feel free to submit your questions to be asked at the event here.
