Event description

Astro-Update is an evening presentation on the latest astronomical news and discoveries. The aim of these evenings is to cut through the hype to reveal the true significance of the latest research in astronomy. With clear explanations of the science behind the discoveries.

This Astro-Update will focus on T Coronae Borealis, a recurrent nova which is about to explode in our northern sky. A rare cosmic event that happens approximately once every 79 years. Find out what it is, how it happens and where to find it in the night sky.

The evening's presentation will also include some of the latest observations of the James Webb Telescope, the most recent observations that affect the dark matter debate and our active Sun.

Presented by Dr Paul Payne, with over 30 years experience in communicating astronomy and physics to the general public. The presentation will be in stereoscopic, interactive 3D. Powerful visualisations will aid in explaining all the concepts that are explored during the evening.

The evening will also be complemented with refreshments, and viewings through a telescope of the night sky, weather permitting.
