A Taste of Pakistan
Event description
Learn to make some yummy dishes, popular in Pakistan, then sit down and enjoy them with others!
We will get a taste of Pakistan with our host Tayyaba Latif. Originally from the city of Multan in Pakistan, Tayyaba moved to New Zealand about 8 years ago. She and her family have been living in Ashburton for the past 2.5 years.
Under Tayyaba's guidance, we will make Haleem - which is a slow cooked stew with meat (lamb or goat), lentils, wheat or barley and a variety of spices. The haleem will be medium spice level (df). We will also make a Dahl with lentils (v, gf, df) and Paratha - flat bread (vt).
For dessert we'll make Gajar ka halwa, a sweet dessert made with carrots, milk, nuts and cardamom (vt, gf).
Come along and get some new recipe ideas, learn about another country and enjoy a delicious dinner together with others! Limited to 10 people so get in quick.
If you are vegetarian, you can still enjoy this meal - just without the Haleem.
(v= vegan, vt= vegetarian, df= dairy free, gf= gluten free)
