La Vallée de la Marne or Marne Valley stretches from Tours-sur-Marne all the way to Epernay, extending towards Paris along the two banks of the Marne river. Some of the most famous crus in Champagne are located in the Marne Valley, such as Aÿ and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, villages that are worldly renowned for their Pinot Noir. Exceptional body and delicate nose, the wines from these crus are exceptional.
The Marne Valley is also the home of Dom Pérignon, cellarmaster of the ever-famous abbey of Hautvillers, who is said to have discovered the ‘bubbles’ in champagne... myth or reality? His terroir composed of Dizy and Cumieres grows some of the most expression of Pinot Meunier in the Champagne region, producing lighter and fresher wines that serve to balance the blends.
