A Very Ropey Night invites you to experience the beauty of shibari in a warm, intimate setting.

Enjoy a drink from the bar as you settle into our lounge-style space — couches, cushions, and mats bringing you close to the action to watch shibari performances live throughout the night . 

If you’d like to do more than watch — whether you’re brand new to rope or have years of experience — you’ll find a place here. Visit our Rope Tasting Space, where you can be tied by our friendly crew and chat with others about their rope journey. Or if you’re already a seasoned Rigger or Model and want to join in the fun, you may tie in the Rope Play Space — so feel free to bring along your rope kit.

This event is proudly presented by the Rope Gap Group, a collective of diverse riggers and models passionate about shibari. We meet every other week to socialise, tie, and talk rope — not as a formal class, but as a space to jam, skillshare, and grow together.

For the first time, performers from across Aotearoa come together in Tāmaki Makaurau to share their skills and perspectives. From suspension to sensual connection, decorative rope to self-tying, each performance offers a different window into the art of rope.

Guided by our kaupapa of inclusivity, consent, and respect, we welcome LGBTQ+, POC, all genders and bodies. This is a night for curiosity, creativity, and community.
