Event description

We invite you to join us to celebrate World Metrology Day, to be delivered virtually for the first time ever on 20 May from 1pm

With COVID-19 preventing a physical event, we’ve developed a revamped virtual programme with a stellar line-up of speakers and content, so you can join in no matter where you are in the world.

World Metrology Day is an annual celebration to mark the milestone signing of the Metre Convention in 1875. This momentous historic event established a global framework for member governments to collaborate on the science of measurement. Metrology plays a central role in scientific discovery and innovation, industrial manufacturing and international trade, improving the quality of life and protecting the global environment.

The theme of this year’s event is ‘Measurements for global trade’ and includes a short programme of informative talks from MSL scientists and live discussions, including an update on the state-of-the-art new MSL building.

From 15 May, selected talks will be available on the MSL YouTube channel and you’ll be able to send us questions for speakers ahead of the live Q&A session on 20 May. See programme schedule on our Event page for more information.

This event is FREE to attend, but you must register here. We’ll send you a confirmation email with the Zoom link for the event.

We look forward to you joining us on 20 May!
