Event description

We ‘re please to welcome the Wikipedia Walking Tour and Edit-a- thon for 2025. The two-part event will be running over two days, the walking tour on Saturday and the edit-a-thon on Sunday.

Women make up only 20% of biographies on Wikipedia, and in December 2022, there were just 9 women listed in the category ‘New Zealand women architects’. Since then, the New Zealand Women in Architecture WikiProject has been working hard to address this gender disparity and celebrate the incredible mahi by women and non-binary people in architecture.

This year, A+W▪︎NZ will be working alongside Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland Museum again to continue the Wikipedia walking tours and edit-a-thons.  Join us on the weekend of the 5th & 6th April to celebrate women in architecture.

These events are possible due to the generous sponsorship of Wikimedia Aotearoa New Zealand. Thank you also to Parnell Baths and Residium for their support.

Walking Tour

Parnell Baths houses the largest saltwater swimming pool in Aotearoa New Zealand. First opened in 1914, it was redeveloped in the 1950s to the iconic (and wonderfully retro) Lido style we know today. Since then, it has undergone restoration work in 2003 and 2010 headed by Matthews & Matthews Architects.

The walking tour will start at the Parnell Baths, exploring its architectural history and heritage significance. We will then walk to Residium for refreshments and a short tutorial on photo uploading.

Please bring a device for photo taking and uploading.
