A Wild Love for the World (Concert Taranaki)

Event description

In a dark time the eye begins to see…for what is madness but nobility of soul at odds with circumstance... Excerpts from poem by Theodore Roethke

Somewhere in his thirties mytho-poetry found Jaime, moved something old and wild within him. A passion for education led him to offer community rites of passage events. After a devastating accident he finds another way to play the guitar and begins writing songs about the passages that exist between life stages. After two decades helping adolescents gain a sense of what it means to be a healthy man, he turns his attention to the mid life crisis/opportunity asking the question, what does it mean to be an true adult?

The concert is a tapestry of original songs, real life gutsy story telling, woven with spoken word poetry from and of the heart. The journey speaks to the Great Turning, an idea that we as humans have moved through the agricultural revolution, Industrial revolution and that now we are poised on the on the brink of a possible conscious revolution into a life sustaining society.

Jaime will recite soul poetry by Mary Oliver, David Whyte and sing original songs about what it is to be a huMAN growing up in a world poised between awakening and collapse.

This is a moving concert that celebrates life, builds community connections and is an encouragement for the role of artists as vital players in social/ecological change from techno-industrial growth to a life enhancing society.

“That was one of the best concerts I have ever been too. I feel totally uplifted, moved, enriched. It was so passionate and soulful, exquisite poems and songs. I dont think I have heard anyone play the guitar and recite poems the way you have.”
