Learn how a movement for Healing Revolution was created in Australia and what is happening in the land down under right now!

Australia was the first country in the world to successfully apply to reschedule psilocybin and MDMA from Prohibited Substances to Controlled Medicine. The world-first rescheduling decision occurred in 2023. Since 2024 patients have been treated in clinical settings under the supervision of Authorised Prescribing psychiatrists and their clinical teams. Multiple clinics are emerging around the nation to meet the significant demand for these innovative therapies. With 1 in 4 Australians suffering from a mental illness and current treatments not helping the majority of those suffering, these innovative therapies are urgently needed.

Through the work of the Mind Medicine Australia charity led by social entrepreneurs and philanthropic pioneers, Tania de Jong AM and Peter Hunt AM, Australians suffering with depression and PTSD can now access psychedelic-assisted therapies.  MMA has developed the ecosystem for the use of these transformational treatments in Australia through world-leading training and professional development programs, education and awareness building, affordable medicine supplies, development of clinics and funding of innovative research and a world-first National Registry to collate real world evidence at Australian National University. Through MMA's work the Australian Government also invested AU15 million dollars for further research and trials in this rapidly emerging field. This is the largest grant awarded to this rapidly emerging field from any government.

MEDICINAL PSYCHEDELIC TREATMENTS

Psychedelic-assisted treatments offer enormous potential in providing a meaningful alternative to current treatments for mental illness. PTSD is a debilitating condition that affects tens of millions of people worldwide, with many more trauma victims diagnosed with comorbid conditions such as depression, anxiety and eating disorders. In recent clinical trials, MDMA has been shown to produce reliable clinical improvements, restoring patient safety and self-agency even for individuals who have suffered with PTSD for many years, and for whom many treatments have failed.

The wave of clinical psychedelic research and regulatory support is rapidly building, with experts forecasting the availability of psychedelic-assisted treatments in the US and EU within the next 2 to 5 years, subject to positive clinical outcomes in large trials that are currently underway.
