Event description

Ready to upload some photos from your latest event? Wanting to change your About Us image? Do you know how to add alternative text when uploading a new photo to your website? If your answer to the last question is a "hmm, alternative what?" no fear, the Knowbility team is here. 

Alternative text is a textual substitute for non-text content in web pages. important because it allows blind and visually impaired users to access the information on your site, making it a hallmark of accessibility.

In this session, we will be covering the ins and outs of alternative text. The The first half of the session will cover all of the information and guidelines you'll need to create effective alt text: when and where to place it, the purposes it serves, and how to (and not to) write it. During the second half of the session, you will have the opportunity to apply these new skills using provided examples, or on materials from your own website if available. If you have questions you would like to send ahead of time, you can do so by emailing them to events@knowbility.org.

This session is the first in a new series hosted by Knowbility called Be A Digital Ally. The goal of this series is to provide entry-level trainings on the basic principles and skills needed to make any website accessible. Whether you are responsible for your small business's website or you're a social media creator who wants to ensure your content is available for everyone, this series is intended for you.
