Event description

Assistive Technology Consideration & Where to find help

Have a student that is struggling and your school team isn't sure what to try next? Are you a parent of a student receiving special education services but you are confused about what assistive technology is and how to make sure all the options are considered.

School teams often feel lost when discussing a student's need for assistive technology. Who needs to be involved? What data needs to be collected? What equipment or device should they try first?

This session will provide an overview of the assistive technology consideration process as part of a student's IEP as well as tools and resources designed to help train and support school staff, parents and students.

About the presenter:

Jessica "Jay" McKay, MT-BC, ATP

Before joining Knowbility staff as the Community Programs Director, Jay was the AT specialist for Ysleta ISD for over 12 years, providing assistive technology services and training to support students in 60 campuses.
