AAC – Intermediate level– so my student has a communication device/system, now what?
Event description
Description
This 90-minute webinar will offer practical information to help build your confidence in the area of Augmentative and
Alternative Communication. This is targeted towards people who are supporting someone who has (or is about
to have) a communication system. This might be low tech (e.g., coreboard, communication book with symbols, etc),
or high tech (e.g., a Tobii device, iPad with TouchChat, Proloquo2go, Snapchat, Coughdrough, LAMP, etc).
The communication supports might have been funded through TalkLink, Ministry of Education, or a private
assessment.
The system isn't going to be the focus - although we will try to use examples from the systems you use - we will be
focusing on how to support language and communication development (the tomorrow system) while
supporting your ability to respond to and honour current communication skills (the today
system).
There will be time for question and answers throughout the session. We’ll add additional information about this course once the Ministry of Education opens the application process.
