This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Start Buzzing! Get ready to celebrate World Bee Day on May 20th by joining Julie Armstrong for a fun and informative AAEE Learning Circle. Learn more about the crucial role of pollinators and discover fun and interactive activities that will help you care for nature. You can also participate in Citizen Science activities and use Australian curriculum-aligned resources to guide you through this exciting celebration.

Julie is the President of AAEE ACT with a diverse teaching background. She is also the founder of 'ACT for Bees + Other Pollinators' (https://actforbees.org), whose primary focus is on educating the Canberra region community on the importance of bees and pollinators through children's activities, workshops, and events. Their educational activities encourage the community to 'plant for year-round flowering for pollinators' in their gardens and to support local organic food systems.

In addition to her work with bees and pollinators, Julie leads guided Forest Therapy walks in Canberra and shares her love for nature with others. Julie's ongoing passion and amazing work has recently been recognized through the Australian Association for Environmental Education National Educator Award in 2023, and she was also a finalist in the ACT Local Hero Australian of the Year Awards in 2024.

This AAEE Learning Circle is hosted by the Australian Association for Environmental Education (AAEE). More information about Learning Circles and other AAEE events and news can be found at https://www.aaee.org.au
