ABCD 1 Day Workshop- TOWNSVILLE, QLD

About this Workshop:

Learn a framework that helps turn what is 'wrong' in communities, into what is 'strong' and brings out the best in individuals, workplaces, and communities. This workshop explores how to uncover the assets, gifts, and contributions that exist within people and communities and enables participants to create practical solutions using Asset Based Community Development (ABCD). The core themes and principles of ABCD and some basic Social Role Valorisation (SRV) ideas will be explored through presentations, exercises, and discussions.

Who Should Attend:

This workshop is designed for participants from a range of sectors (disability, aged care, mental health, youth, health, community services, local government, small business, etc). The workshops is most effective for teams and business who send management or leadership staff. Participants will be people who are looking for ways to understand and act upon a ‘Glass Half Full’ approach to creating better lives and communities for people.

Attendance at this workshop will be limited to 25 attendees to ensure that we comply with COVID Safe Plan requirements in place at the venue.

• Tuesday September 14,2021 from 9:00AM to 4:30PM
• On September 14, please arrive at 8:30 AM to sign in, for a 9:00 AM start. Concludes at 4:30 PM.

Cost:

• Standard: $165.00 plus GST
• Morning tea and afternoon tea will be provided. Lunch will be ‘Bring Your Own (BYO). Food is available for purchase near the venue. Please note any essential dietary requirements in your registration.

About the Teacher, Ricky Esterquest

Ricky is the Managing Partner of Towards Better, a qualified Trainer & Assessor, and practitioner of Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) and Social Role Valorisation (SRV) who has over 15 years of experience in human services including disability and community services as well as the non for profit and NDIS service sectors in Queensland.

Ricky uses Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) in his work alongside individuals to discover the gifts and talents of individuals and communities and ‘bridge’ the two through valued social roles and common-unity and also within workplaces and community groups to uncover the strengths within, generate creative, ideas and take action on inclusion.

Ricky has been teaching and practicing ABCD in-depth for the last 5 years and considers himself a forever student and teacher. He is looking forward to learning with you!
