    ABORIGINAL PEOPLE & STRENGTHS-BASED PRACTICES WORKSHOP

    Exploring practical solutions in providing more holistic and effective service delivery for Aboriginal people.

    About This Workshop

    This one-day course is a follow-up to the Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Workshop.

    Course topics include:

    1. Revisiting Workshop 1 (Aboriginal Cultural Awareness)
    2. Communicating effectively
    3. Current themes and figures relating to Aboriginal people
    4. Contributing factors around contemporary Aboriginal health and wellbeing
    5. Media and public perceptions
    6. Proactive campaigns
    7. Tools and resources
    8. Referral points
    9. Case studies
    10. Individual action planning

    * Please note:

    a) Participants must complete the Aboriginal Cultural Awareness workshop prior to attending the Aboriginal People and Strengths-Based Practices workshop.

    About the facilitator:

    Felicity (Flic) Ryan is a Wadi Wadi woman and her mother’s family are freshwater people from the mallee area of Victoria, specifically around the Murray River (Miilu). She also has strong family connections to the Wemba Wemba and Yorta Yorta people around this region. Flic’s father is of Scottish background and his family hail from the area below Glasgow in the central lowlands.

    Flic spent 13 years working within both State and Local Government areas and her previous roles include Women and Children’s Refuge Worker, Child Protection Officer, Community Development Officer, HIV Care and Support Officer and Sexual Health Worker.

    Please note: This workshop is provided at no cost to NADA members. It does not cover travel or accommodation costs or any other out of pocket expenses. NADA will allocate tickets to ensure a fair distribution to member services. If you have been allocated a ticket, you will be notified prior to the event.
