Join this interactive 3-hour online Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Workshop to gain an awareness of the culture, history and experiences of Australia's First Peoples. Delivered within a culturally safe and inclusive framework, you will have the opportunity to learn, discuss and have your questions answered.

Presented by Auspire - Australia Day Council WA and facilitated by First Nations' Noongar leader, Danny Ford OAM, this workshop explores the values and belief systems of Aboriginal people, and discusses the impacts of colonisation and how these still play out today. While the content may be based on Noongar culture and Whadjuk region, the theories and learnings can be applied across Australia.

This session is ideal for individuals and teams starting out their Aboriginal Cultural Competency journey, to facilitate real and lasting change through changed attitudes and behaviours at both a professional and personal level.

Understanding Aboriginal history
Key cultural protocols
Aboriginal values, belief systems and cultural protocols
Barriers between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people
Working together for a better future

Workshop participants receive a certificate of participation and a resources list to help continue their journey.

About the facilitator

Danny Ford OAM

Danny is a Noongar man and senior traditional custodian of Whadjuk Country.

He is a qualified teacher and social worker and has considerable public sector experience after almost 30 years across a range of departments, including child protection, family support, housing and training. Danny also sits on the boards of a number of Aboriginal Community Groups.
